Excellent red wine, radishes with cocktails and a restaurant in a hanger...

This is just a quick post whilst I have a rare moment of freedom.....

In the last few months I have travelled a fair bit and experienced a variety of amazing and somewhat different cuisines in both traditional and unusual locations. Below are just a few experiences

1. August 2008 : Dinner at The Stratosphere Hotel, Las Vegas.

1000 feet or so in the air, seating is in a glass dome with a revolving floor, quite possibly the best views and an excellent dessert menu!( see example above!)

2. September 2008 : Exhibition at Phillips De Pury Gallery, London

Excellent location, enormous clean open space with an amazing exhibition nicely accompanied by good champagne and the best sashimi Hors D'oeurves I have had in a while!

3. October 2008 : BUCHAREST.....2 amazing Restaurants here

i) Balthazar : Fantastically cool interior and probably the best red wine I have had for quite some time, unfortunately not a bottle that one could probably find in the UK. It was devilishly rich and full bodied, quite delightful.

ii) Casa Isoletta : Set on a lake, a wonderful up market yet low key restaurant serving the most amazing fish that melted in the mouth...WOW!

4. December 2008 : London...OQO Bar, Islington

Mid week, low lighting, great seating, extensive cocktail list. After 2 great mojitos thhe bar man came over personally and asked what he could make for me! I told him sweet yet sour and he returned with an exquisite blend of fruits and measures of delicious unknown forms of alcohol topped with fresh passion fruit...delicious and intoxicating!

5. February 2009 : Zurich..Goethe Bar ( Shiller )

2 EXPERIENCES!

i) Cocktails- Amazing Mojito with just the right amount of mint and sugar and served with raw radishes and salt!! I was a little apprehensive but actually rather impressed with the blend of flavours...a must try!

ii) Breakfast- Ouefs Florentine

I returned the next day for a delicious breakfast. The egg was done to perfection with the freshest spinach and buttery toast, an amazing start to the day...Highly recommended!

6. February 2009 : Zurich .. Runway 34

What a location for a restaurant...An actual hanger close to Zurich Airport that has been turned into a restaurant complete with real life plane ( now a smoking bar) in the middle!! The best part is the drinks being served on proper plane trolleys!! A unique experience!

I hope you have enjoyed the above and feel free to comment!!
